Our AML and Verification Policy
We hold licence MGA/B2C/812/2025 issued by the Malta Gaming Authority, and that licence carries real obligations. This page sets out, in plain terms, how we verify who you are, how we monitor transactions, and what we ask of you under anti-money-laundering law.
Our Commitment to AML Rules
Hollywin Casino operates under licence MGA/B2C/812/2025 from the Malta Gaming Authority, and we follow the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing framework that licence imposes. Money laundering is the process of making illegally obtained funds appear legitimate, and gambling platforms can be misused for it. We do not accept that risk passively.
Our programme includes customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, suspicious-activity reporting to the relevant financial intelligence unit, and staff training. We appoint a dedicated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) responsible for the programme, and we review our controls against Malta's implementation of the EU anti-money-laundering directives on an ongoing basis.
When We Verify Your Identity
Verification points
We verify you at defined points rather than at random. You may be asked to complete verification at registration, before your first withdrawal, when cumulative deposits or withdrawals reach certain thresholds, or whenever a risk indicator appears on your account.
- At registration: confirming your name, date of birth, address and contact details, and screening against sanctions and politically-exposed-person lists.
- Before your first withdrawal: full identity verification is required, without exception.
- At thresholds: additional checks may apply when deposits or withdrawals exceed AUD 8,000 in a day, AUD 16,000 in a week, or AUD 32,000 in a month.
- On risk triggers: unusual betting patterns, deposit behaviour inconsistent with your profile, or third-party payment attempts.
Documents we accept
Three document types cover the standard check. First, a government-issued photo ID: passport, national identity card or driving licence. Second, a proof of address dated within the last 3 months: a utility bill, bank statement or official government correspondence showing your name and residential address. Third, proof of payment method: a photo of the card (with middle digits covered), a bank statement for a transfer method, or a screenshot of your e-wallet or crypto wallet showing your name or wallet address.
All documents must be legible, unexpired, uncropped and in your own name. We cannot accept documents in the name of a family member, partner or anyone else.
The Verification Process Step by Step
Verification runs through your account settings. Once you upload a document, our compliance team reviews it, typically within 24 to 48 hours. You will see the status change in your account, and we email you once a decision is made.
- 1. Open the Verification section of your Hollywin Casino account.
- 2. Upload a clear photo or scan of your photo ID.
- 3. Upload a proof of address dated within 3 months.
- 4. Upload proof of ownership for each payment method you have used.
- 5. Our compliance team reviews the documents, normally within 24 to 48 hours.
- 6. You receive confirmation by email and your account limits are lifted.
How your documents are protected
Documents are transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on access-controlled servers in the European Economic Area. Only authorised compliance staff can view them, and every access is logged. We never share your verification data with third parties except where the law or our regulator requires it.
When We Ask for Source of Funds
Source of funds means showing where the money you play with comes from. We request it when your deposit levels do not match the profile on your account, when cumulative deposits reach a level we set under our risk rules, or when monitoring flags a pattern that requires explanation under our licence conditions.
Acceptable evidence includes recent payslips, a tax return or assessment notice, audited business accounts, a pension statement, or a bank statement showing the funds arriving from a traceable origin. Crypto players may be asked for exchange records linking the wallet to a verified account in their name. This is not an accusation; it is a legal obligation that applies to every licensed operator, and answering it protects your own funds as much as it protects our licence.
How We Monitor Transactions
Every deposit and withdrawal on our platform passes automated screening for patterns associated with money laundering: rapid deposit-then-withdraw cycles without genuine play, structured deposits just below thresholds, and use of multiple payment methods from different names. Flagged transactions are reviewed manually by our compliance team.
Two rules shape your withdrawals. First, we return funds via the same method you used to deposit, in proportion to what you deposited with it, which is a standard anti-money-laundering requirement. Second, our published limits apply to every account: AUD 8,000 per day, AUD 16,000 per week and AUD 32,000 per month, with withdrawals processed within 0 to 24 hours once verification is complete. We do not charge withdrawal fees; your payment provider may.
| Check | What we look at |
|---|---|
| Deposits | Payment method in your own name, sanctions screening, pattern consistency |
| Withdrawals | Same-method rule, account verification status, limit compliance |
| Ongoing | Play versus deposit behaviour, threshold breaches, profile changes |
If Verification Fails or Stalls
Until verification is complete, withdrawals stay on hold. Your deposited funds remain yours; we simply cannot release them to an unverified account. If a document is rejected, we tell you why and you can upload a corrected version, and you can contact our 24/7 support team at [email protected] for help at any stage.
If you do not provide requested documents within a reasonable period, or if verification fails outright, we may suspend the account, void bonuses and winnings tied to the unverified activity, and in confirmed cases of fraud or money laundering, close the account and report the matter to the authorities. In such cases, refundable deposits are returned to the verified source method where the law allows.
How Long We Keep Your Records
Under our MGA licence and Malta's record-keeping rules, we retain verification documents and transaction records for at least five years after the business relationship ends. Retention is not optional: regulators may audit our files at any time, and the records are also what allow us to resolve disputes in your favour when the evidence supports it. After the retention period expires, documents are securely destroyed and you may request deletion of data not subject to retention law at any time under applicable privacy rules.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does verification take at Hollywin Casino?
Our compliance team reviews documents typically within 24 to 48 hours, though complex cases involving source-of-funds evidence can take longer.
Do I need to verify my account before depositing?
No, you can deposit and play first. Full identity verification is required before your first withdrawal, or earlier if a risk trigger applies to your account.
Why was my document rejected?
The most common reasons are blur, cropped edges, an expired ID, an address document older than 3 months, or a payment document not in your own name. We always tell you the reason so you can resubmit.
Can I withdraw to a different method than I deposited with?
As a rule we return funds via the same method you deposited with, in proportion to those deposits. This anti-money-laundering requirement applies to every account.
